... "Dalhousie University is pleased to announce the Dalhousie Innovation Award - 2006 has been awarded to Professor Mark Stradiotto, Department of Chemistry. Dr. Stradiotto's technology is titled Developing Transition Metal Catalysts Supported by New Planar-Chiral Metalloligands for Use in Mediating Commercially Relevant Asymmetric Chemical Transformations. This Innovation Award is sponsored by Dalhousie University, the Office of Economic Development for Nova Scotia, the IWK Health Centre and the Capital District Health Authority.
The award is intended to encourage and advance innovative research with strong commercial potential. The winner was selected by InNOVAcorp and the Industry Liaison and Innovation office at Dalhousie University and is valued at $50,000. Professor Stradiotto's technology was also selected by the Faculty of Management's MBA students for entry into local, national and international business plan competitions. MBA students who work closely with the Norman Newman Centre for Entrepreneurship will work with the Industry Liaison and Innovation staff to develop winning business strategies for technology commercialization and the design and development of new startup businesses.
